Get To Know Dr. Zacharias
Dr. Zacharias was raised on a southwest Iowa farm and graduated from Iowa State University in 2003. He completed a sports medicine and surgery internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Dr. Zacharias then moved to Purdue University for a large animal surgery residency and became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He went back to Iowa State to serve as an emergency surgeon prior to taking a private practice equine surgery position in Katy, Texas.
After a couple years in Texas, he moved to Colorado in 2010 to be a surgeon at Countryside Large Animal in Greeley. He became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2013.
Dr. Zacharias formed Vizion Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in 2024. Dr. Zacharias also attended Kentucky Horseshoeing School and apprenticed with a journeyman farrier for 3 years while attending vet school.
Dr. Zacharias has presented at multiple national, state and regional meetings, as well as various webinars. He has served on committees for the ACVS and ACVSMR colleges and received various awards.
Dr. Zacharias will be performing surgeries every other week here at the VetweRx North location.
